Valley Gardens are the hidden secret of the Great Park. Whilst the hoards descend on formal Savill Gardens and expansive Virginia Water; nestled near the Guard’s polo ground is an explosion of colour riddled with secret passages and informal paths begging to be explored; at no time more than when the rhododendrons bloom in every colour of the rainbow in the brilliantly named ‘Punch Bowl’.
Last weekend, with T away, A requested “an adventure in a garden”, so I was happy to oblige. With my third-trimester clothes bursting at the seams I took my camera and remote trigger along to try and capture this fleeting moment of it being just us two, with a bump in between. I tried to pick an outfit for her – she wasn’t having any of it. As usual, A knew best – she coordinated beautifully with the blooms!
Having spent A’s nap time improvising crowns from a nearly-over bouquet, she was happy to play at being ‘queens of the forest’, and kept saying “I’m having a lovely time, Mamadoo!”. Me too 🙂
I don’t know if she’ll remember this small, every day adventure, but I certainly will.
