A busy, busy week with work and poorly toddler. I feel like I’ve been phenomenally productive and yet still have so much to do - the juggle is real! I’m planning to take this afternoon off ‘in lieu’ and spend it pottering in the kitchen with my eldest after school, because whilst we’ve managed to tick all of the boxes on the work/life/admin list between us this week, there hasn’t been much time left to... well, just take time. 💛
Taking inspiration from @feedthebrood and trying to serve more of our meals ‘sharing’ style and let everyone decide what goes on their plates - after all, being able to share is one of the big reasons I try to make sure we all eat the same, allergy-friendly, meal at home! It’s taking a big ‘gulp’ to give the kids the reins on the amount of (or lack of) of veggies that go on their plates. It’s already throwing up some interesting observations for me though - one loves carbs above all else, the other would rather go straight for the protein... oh, and it seems I need to be offering bigger portions all round as this lot all vanished, and I was counting on leftovers! This is a family favourite recipe - the nutty aromatic chicken from @rivercottagehq Light & Easy. #raisingintuitiveeaters
Food is not my day job, but you may have seen on my stories that I have the honour of being one of the judges for the annual Free From Food Awards #FFFA19. This year I was on the ‘puddings’ panel - and as always was surprised by some unexpected favourites in the blind tasting. One was an eyewateringly expensive but totally delicious vegan baked cheesecake. The other (on the more realistically-priced end of the spectrum) was this ‘just like homemade’ crisp-crusted #glutenfree apple pie from @marksandspencerfoodpr. Sadly not one for my littles as it contains dairy, but that just means more for me 🍏 #fruitisnotapudding
Him: what are you doing? Me, surrounded by carnage in the kitchen: making little hearts out of sprigs of thyme. #priorities 💚
Delightfully pink blood orange, hazelnut & rosemary biscuits from last year (I added them to my blog - link in profile). 🍊💖 the blood oranges keep arriving in the veg box, so I’ll have to think of some new ways to use them! What’s your favourite?
18 months today! This one desperately needs a haircut so he can see from under his fringe again, but I don’t want to say goodbye to those emerging curls! If anyone needs me I’ll be Pinteresting ‘longish toddler hairstyles’.
A little fun inspired by #whpcolorwheel and these natural little colour wheels on my stories today 🍊
A tiny story about our weekend in Brighton 👧🏼 💛
